Porton Biopharma Ltd (PBL) is committed to being a leading employer locally and recognises that it is our staff that make the greatest contribution to us as a company developing and manufacturing life-saving products. In fact many of our staff stay with us for years, often joining in relatively junior positions and then acquiring the necessary skills and experience to progress their careers and move into more senior positions over the years. To enable that we have an active programme of staff training.
Whilst a lot of the training that we provide is undertaken in-house and often bespoke to our particular needs as a specialist biopharmaceutical manufacturer, benchmarking that training to nationally recognised qualifications is important to demonstrate both transferable skills and provide our staff with recognition.
Consequently we are delighted to report that over the last couple of years that our latest cohort of staff have been independently assessed and achieved a whole series of level 2 and 3 NVQ awards. The awards are in subjects including storage & warehousing and laboratory skills.
Commenting on the process Elesha Cole who works in pharmaceutical stores said “I started here almost five years ago as a stores assistant in our warehouse, it is a great place to work and the team are really friendly. By taking the NVQ in storage & warehousing that has enabled me to work my way up, gain more experience and I am now a supervisor passing on the knowledge that I have acquired to those following on from me.”
